The care card, at length
How to care for human hair bundles.
Looked after, this hair outlasts a year of wear. Everything below is on the printed card in every box, with the detail the card has no room for. Eight habits, two minutes each.
- 1
Wash
- Cool or lukewarm water, never hot. Hot water lifts the cuticle and dulls the shine.
- A sulphate-free shampoo, worked down the length in one direction. Do not pile the hair up and scrub; that is how knots start.
- Once a week if you wear it daily, less if you do not. Over-washing dries it out faster than anything else.
- 2
Condition
- Conditioner from mid-length to the ends, left for five minutes, rinsed cool.
- A deep conditioning mask every two to three weeks keeps it soft for the full year of wear.
- Keep conditioner off the wefts and off your scalp if the hair is installed, so the tracks stay clean and secure.
- 3
Detangle
- Ends first. Hold the hair above the knot and work up in small sections with a wide-tooth comb.
- Detangle while it is wet and conditioned, never dry. Boho Strands: fingers first, comb second.
- A few strands at the weft are normal in the first week. Pulling at a knot is what causes shedding.
- 4
Dry
- Squeeze with a towel, do not rub. Then air dry on a stand or over a chair back.
- If you must blow dry, low heat with a diffuser, and stop when it is nearly dry.
- Never sleep on it wet. Damp hair tangles overnight.
- 5
Heat
- Bone Straight needs no heat at all. It arrives sleek and stays that way after every wash.
- Bodywave and Boho Strands take a flat iron or curling wand up to 180掳C with a heat protectant. Above that the pattern starts to loosen.
- Once a week at most. Heat is what shortens a bundle's life.
- 6
Night
- A satin or silk bonnet, or a satin pillowcase. Cotton pulls moisture out of the hair and roughens the cuticle.
- Long lengths: a loose plait or a low pineapple before bed, so the morning starts without knots.
- 7
Colour
- Bodywave and Boho Strands take dye and bleach evenly. Natural Black lifts to a 27 honey with a professional lightener.
- Bone Straight is steam-pressed for its finish, so colour it by all means, but leave bleaching to a professional.
- After colour, deep condition and cut the heat for a fortnight.
- 8
Store
- Between installs: washed, fully dry, combed, folded once and back in the box or a satin bag.
- Away from sun and heat. A wardrobe shelf, not a windowsill.
- Stored properly, a bundle waits months without losing its shape.
By texture
Each one asks for something different.
Bone Straight
No flat iron, ever. Wash, air dry, run a paddle brush through it. If it looks dull, it needs a clarifying wash, not heat.
See Bone StraightBodywave
The wave is set in the hair, so it comes back after every wash. Scrunch with a little leave-in while damp and let it air dry; brushing it dry pulls the wave out until the next wash.
See BodywaveBoho Strands
Finger-detangle only, and always wet. Seal the ends with a light oil once a week. The curl pattern is the first thing rough handling takes.

Frequently asked
01How long does Valour hair last?
A year or more of regular wear with the care above. Bone Straight is the easiest to keep; Boho Strands reward the most care.
02Can I swim in it?
Yes, in a swimming cap, or rinse salt and chlorine out in cool water straight afterwards and condition. Both dry the hair if left in.
03Why is it shedding?
A few strands at the cut weft in the first week are normal. Ongoing shedding usually means the weft has been cut too many times during install, or the hair is being detangled dry from the top.
04Can I use a hair dryer?
Low heat with a diffuser, and stop while it is slightly damp. Air drying is better and costs nothing.
05What products should I avoid?
Anything with sulphates, alcohol high on the list, or heavy silicones that build up. A sulphate-free shampoo, a conditioner, a leave-in and a light oil are all it needs.
06Does the care card come in the box?
Yes, printed, with every order, and it says the same as this page.
